2018-2019 Annual Report

WPLLA continued to provide programming opportunities that included on-site and remote capabilities to accommodate members.  

In 2018-2019, the Programming Committee chaired by Rita Young offered many well-attended programs.  These included: Overview of AALL Conference 2018; AI and the Legal Professional at the Crossroads: Where are we going? –with a panel of representatives from Lexis Nexis, Fastcase, and Casetext; Dorothy – A new innovative AI platform for patent searching created by a local attorney; STACKS platform by EBSCO and how it worked in a local law firm; What’s new on Lexis Nexis; Gavelytics and state court docket issues. WPLLA continued its Holiday and Banquet events and ended the year with a Gateway Clipper Cruise.

The WPLLA membership directory (pdf) was supplied to members.

The WPLLA Board acknowledges that members feel increased demands on their time and energies at work and at home.   WPLLA offered a list of committees with short descriptions and examples of “limited time” volunteer opportunities to increase participation.

WPLLA awarded a travel grant for the 2019 AALL Annual Meeting & Conference to Vice President/President-Elect Debra Pfeifer.

WPLLA continues to provide networking and educational opportunities to its members and continues to promote itself to the larger legal community. The Board and its members reach out to mentor and welcome new members and look for opportunities to promote WPLLA membership.
